I named this peice after the last woman in europe to be killed for being a witch. There is so much going on in this piece: the embroidered sleeve, the red cuff, the weeping eye, and the markings for the elements, the sun and the moon.
**Anna Goldi was named a witch and beheaded in 1782. The town that killed her became a joke in Switzerland because her accusation and ultimate execution ironically came during the Age of Enlightment. In 2008, Goldi's name was finally cleared.
